Digital Training and AI

Digital training and movement correction using artificial intelligence

The use of digital media in the sports and fitness sector has become extremely popular, and not just since the coronavirus pandemic. Smartphone apps allow you to track your own workouts, consoles combine video games with physical activity (“exergaming”) and video conferencing makes training at home even easier. Rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence is also opening up new possibilities for supporting exercisers, trainers and therapists.

Our department is investigating the opportunities and risks of the ongoing digitalization of exercise and training. With the help of our studies, we want to find out how corresponding solutions can increase effectiveness and efficiency. We focus, for example, on the investigation of live training using video streaming, automated movement correction using AI and the integration of virtual/augmented reality into conventional training and test models.
